This is Brady Seamon with Plot Twist d'Avalon. It was really fun watching these two interact with each other. Plot Twist definitely thought Brady was the cat's meow !

We are happy to report that a total of $24,559 has been sent to Marin Humane Society for the recent fundraising auction. There are still several outstanding balances owed on auction items. If you are one of the purchasers for an auction item and have not paid, please make arrangements to do so.
The amount paid to Marin Humane Society is the net of funds received to date (less payments for Paypal commissions, Google Wallet commissions, mailings/postage and promotion for the fundraising). Per a discussion with Marin Humane Society, $1,500 was held back in case there are any disputes or problems for any of the auction items donated. Those funds will be forwarded to Marin Humane Society at a later date when all distributions of auction items have been made.

What an astounding outpouring of support from the sport horse industry! The auction fundraiser that was done to help Marin Humane Society with their costs with the seizure, care and legal fees associated with horses from a well known warmblood breeder in their county, closed this evening. Over $30,000 in gross funds were raised. The Auction was brainstormed and started on January 1st, 2013 and went "live" on January 3rd, 2013. It was an incredible success and can only be credited to all of the caring people within that industry! Thank you to all that have participated and we would ask anyone that is looking for a sporthorse stallion to breed to or a gift item to purchase, check out the list of generous donors first! We have set up a page of all the people and businesses that donated to the auction! Check 'em out!!

Jamie and Gerry Anderson
Although the horse is the common thread for those associated with the Leg-Up Equestrian Assistance Program, it's not the only way those associated with it work at helping others. One of our board members is the son of Thunderbirds creater, Gerry Anderson. Featured in the Daily Telegraph - UK paper - is an article about both Jamie, and his father's contribution to Alzheimer's research. Jamie Anderson is active in fund raising for Alzheimer research in England. We are quite proud of the generous spirit of those affiliated with our organization.

The mare, Devil's Sis, recently seized from Gray Fox Farm.
Just so no one misunderstands our reasoning, this is one of the horses seized by Marin Humane Society in the ongoing case involving Jill Burnell/Gray Fox Farm. This mare, identified by Burnell as "Pookie" has since been identified as the mare, Devil's Sis. She is also rumored to be pregnant.
We cannot say enough for all of the wonderful people that have donated funds and items to this cause, but also to those that have purchased items listed in the auction. It is gratifying to see how the horse community can come together and make things HAPPEN!

We are thrilled to say that Eddo Hoekstra is back on a horse!! He is participating in a therapeutic riding program and is making great progress. We can't be more pleased at the progress he is making and look forward to hearing more updates!

Eddo Hoekstra suffered a paralyzing stroke in June, 2012. Just a few weeks before the stroke, Eddo also became a father for the first time, making his stroke even more tragic. His teaching, riding and training are his sole means of support and he is now completely wheelchair-bound and paralyzed on his left side.
A portion of the funds raised by the foal raffle this year has been earmarked to assist in purchasing a mobility wheelchair for Eddo. Additionally, we have set up a separate account for individuals wishing to make donations dedicated to assisting us in that goal. Please check out Eddo's page here for more information about him and everyone's efforts in helping him!

Just three weeks left to purchase your raffle tickets! Beetlejuice (the dude in the middle of the pile of ponies) is doing well. He got his feet trimmed and dewormed last week and is growing like a weed. A super sweet temperament, he's enjoying the life just hanging out with the rest of the "kids"!

As many of you don't receive Warmbloods Today (a magazine we highly recommend for the sporthorse breeder), below is the ad that recently appeared there. The photo of the rider - notice he "IS" wearing a helmet - is one that will appear in the calendar we are working on for the Leg-Up Equestrian Assistance Program. We wish to thank all of our models who so generously donated their time and "bodies" for the photo shoots - and despite appearances, all photos are "G" rated. Watch here for the announcement of when the calendar will be available for purchase!
