Lauren Spjut
Lauren Spjut is an awesome young woman, a lovely, hard working rider, a huge animal advocate who has been suffering silently for years. Now here's a chance for her to get some relief ... and of course, the procedure is expensive. After years of struggling, there is HOPE for Lauren and we can all help!
A little history. Lauren was a young-horse rider and in between classes she’d be huddled up in a blanket. This is Houston, it’s HOT here! Yet she still went out there and did her best, ending up Reserve Champion for the Region. That was the only time she really felt like she was alive … on a horse! After years of heart surgeries and testing, testing, testing, the doctors finally diagnosed her with a debilitating autoimmune disorder, dysautonomia, which equates to your body attacking itself.
Of course, it couldn’t be easy. The treatment - which is injecting your own stem cells into your body in order to promote healing - is not available in the U.S.
For those in the Houston area, some of Lauren's friends and supporters are putting together a fundraising gathering at Nancy Hinz's place, Yellow Rose Dressage in Montgomery

Decaprio Breeding Auction
Additionally Barbara Schmidt, DVM, and Bridlewood Farm, have graciously donated a breeding to Decaprio for the medical fund raising efforts for Lauren Spjut! Lauren has kept in touch with Dr. Schmidt since buying DeLovely (a Dacaprio filly) and Dr. Schmidt is very touched by their relationship … and wants them to grow old together! More information on Dacaprio is available on Bridlewood Farm’s website
To Bid on the Decaprio breeding, you can do so on Jan Marquardt's Facebook page.
